During the spring of
2002, the Chiefs of Police of the Cape Cod Region entered into
serious discussion over the immediate need to form a non-profit
group to expand Police training and the procurement of specialized
Police equipment within the area.
Recognizing the unique features that the area offers, as a
recreational and tourist destination, the Chiefs perceived a
critical need to not only enhance the Police training , but to share
resources to adequately protect the Cape Communities.
The Chiefs found that some necessary support resources for special
emergencies or life-threatening situations could be hours away and
this time delay could prove costly during times of emergency or
crisis. The Chiefs of Police researched other local Police coalitions
throughout the Massachusetts area and then put into motion a plan to
combine some of the resources of our Departments to more efficiently
assist our residents and visitors.
Since the training began in 2002 over 1500 police officers from Cape
Cod have been trained in Rapid Response to Active Shooter Incidents,
High Risk Motor Vehicle Stops and Low light shooting and building
search techniques. It is the goal of the training cadre to
provide the most up to date training to the officers working on Cape
Cod.
