The uniformed patrol division is backbone of the Yarmouth
Police Department. The patrol division is responsible for
police patrol throughout the Town of Yarmouth.
It is the largest unit within our department.
The patrol division operates around the clock and performs a
variety of functions designed to protect and serve the
citizens and visitors of our community.
This is where police personnel do some of the most
important work.
Only a highly motivated—highly trained—and dedicated person
can fulfill the requirements to be an effective patrol
officer.
The patrol officer is the person within our agency that
you will most often encounter and we strive to make that
encounter professional and effective.
Members of the patrol division are responsible a wide-ranging
array of duties.

Enforcement of all Massachusetts General Laws
Traffic control and enforcement
Crash investigation
Homeland security
Investigation of criminal complaints
Responding to calls for service
Responding to non-criminal complaints—disputes, etc…
